Limited-Edition Burger and Spicy Margarita to Benefit American Family Children’s Hospital
In the latest culinary collaboration for its Artist Series, Umami Burger presents Cindy’s Casa Burger by fashion icon, supermodel and businesswoman, Cindy Crawford, along with Rande’s Spicy Margarita, an exclusive Casamigos Tequila cocktail created by her husband, Rande Gerber. Cindy’s Casa Burger and Rande’s Spicy Margarita are available at participating Umami Burger locations nationwide from March 17 to May 12, 2017, with $1 from the sale of each burger and cocktail benefitting American Family Children’s Hospital in Madison, Wisc. and its “Fighting Cancer So Kids Won’t Have To” campaign.
“Cindy is not just an incredible businesswoman, she’s also extremely generous and caring. She has created an exclusive Artist Series Burger for Umami to help support pediatric cancer research at the University of Wisconsin and American Family Children’s Hospital where her younger brother was once treated for leukemia,” said Sam Nazarian, Founder and CEO of sbe, Umami Burger’s majority shareholder. “We are pleased to collaborate with both Cindy and Rande to amplify the Umami Burger experience for our guests while backing an important cause.”
Bold and spicy, Cindy’s Casa Burger is made with two jalapeo-studded beef patties and topped with crushed avocado, butter lettuce, oven roasted tomato, miso-mustard, caramelized onions, American cheese, house spread, tortilla chips, salsa brava and queso fresco. To complement Cindy’s Casa Burger, Rande Gerber Crawford’s real-life pairing and Casamigos Tequila founder has created Rande’s Spicy Margarita, an exclusive Casamigos Tequila cocktail available at Umami Burger.
“Growing up in a small town, I loved classic American comfort food, and nothing is more classic than an American cheeseburger. Rande who owns Casamigos Tequila, also inspired my burger,” said Cindy Crawford. “Cindy’s Casa Burger is slightly spicy, blending together classic Mexican and American flavors with an umami twist. The tortilla chips are tossed in a chilaquiles-style salsa brava and dusted with queso fresco for layers of flavor, and the heat from the jalapeo is balanced by American cheese, avocado spread, tomato and butter lettuce.”
Cindy’s Casa Burger is available for $14 at participating Umami Burger locations nationwide through May 12, 2017. Learn more about Cindy’s Casa Burger in a video filmed by famed photographer Matthew Rolston.
Created exclusively for Umami Burger, and as the perfect pairing to Cindy’s Casa Burger, Rande’s Spicy Margarita is made with Casamigos Blanco, muddled serrano peppers, fresh lime juice, orange juice, house-made simple syrup and a PAMA infusion topped with Xicaru Mezcal, Cointreau foam and thinly sliced serrano pepper. Rande’s Spicy Margarita is available at Umami Burger at restaurants with a full bar through May 12, 2017 for $11.
“Rande’s Spicy Margarita is refreshing with a kick of heat that’s equally satisfying,” said Rande Gerber. “This cocktail features Casamigos’ ultra-premium tequila and fresh ingredients which packs serious flavor, and gives back to an organization that is near and dear to our hearts.”
In fall 2016, American Family Children’s Hospital and the University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center joined forces to launch a new childhood cancer fundraising effort at the University of Wisconsin. “Fighting Cancer So Kids Won’t Have To” is a campaign that supports childhood cancer research taking place on campus. The campaign’s vision is not only to save every patient but also to eliminate the risks that come with traditional cancer treatments, aiming to transform cancer from a life-threatening disease into a treatable and manageable one.
Umami Burger first rose to national notoriety when it was named Burger of the Year by GQ in 2010, and it has continued to rack up the accolades ever since. Most recently, Umami Burger was named the Best Burger in America by Men’s Journal, one of the 25 Most Innovative Consumers Brands of 2016 by Forbes’ CircleUp25, and one of the Best Burger Chains in Chicago by Chicago Tribune.
The announcement of Umami Burger’s latest Artist Series Collaboration follows news of the company’s first restaurant outside of the U.S., opening in Tokyo, spring 2017. Also in the development pipeline for early 2017 is a new location in New York City and the unveiling of the redesigned Umami Burger at The Grove in Los Angeles.
